Simple Things In Which To Believe

“To know oneself is to foresee oneself; to foresee oneself amounts to playing a part.”

Paul Valery – 1871-1945

Faith is the belief in things that we cannot see but in which we hope.  So what do we believe and in what do we hope?  Here are some simple beliefs that lead to hope.  Read at your own peril.

First, believe that in the end, good triumphs.

Second, believe that we all came from the same place and we will all return to that same place.

Third, believe that you are the answer to at least one person’s question.  Keep alert for that person.  When you answer their question, you will have found your purpose in life.

Fourth, equipped with your purpose, believe you can become the best at whatever and wherever your purpose leads you.

Fifth, believe that if in the quiet of the night you ask questions from your heart by the end of the week an answer will start to form.  This only works when you really believe and attend to the questions in your heart.  Believe that your heart’s desire and longing will not be denied.

Six, believe there is an answer to the question – “what happens when I die”.  It is only when you find the answer to that question that you will know peace.

Seven, believe that no bad deed goes unpunished and no good deed goes unrewarded.

Eight, believe that every day someone will teach you a valuable lesson.  This may be a pleasant lesson to learn or it may be unsettling.  All new lessons are gifts, even if that seems hard to believe.

Nine, believe it is important for you to know who you are before proceeding much further in life.

And finally, ten – believe that what brings you happiness will bring you even more happiness if you share that happiness with one who cannot find happiness without your help.  Offer another person a portion of what you treasure and what you value.

Look in the mirror every day when you rise and when you are about to go to bed.  Who do you see?  What have you accomplished that day?  Who have you helped?

Do you have hope in your life?  Where will that hope lead you from day to day?  Does your hope bring you comfort today?  Do you believe your hope will brighten  your tomorrow?
